The City of Pointe-Claire wishes to inform you that Environment Canada has issued an advisory regarding a significant freezing rain event forecasted for this Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Current forecasts call for accumulations of 20 to 30 millimetres of freezing rain over a 24-hour period. Depending on temperatures, some precipitation may also fall as rain.

Preparing for a Freezing Rain Event

We remind you that it is important to be prepared when faced with an emergency situation. In the event of a severe weather storm or unforeseen circumstance, you should be ready to be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours.

How to Prepare

  • Make sure that your 72-hour emergency kit is complete.

  • Replace any missing items in your kit ahead of the event.

  • Have de-icing salt on hand to secure your emergency exits.

  • Plan ahead for what you will need in the event of a power outage.

  • Postpone any non-essential travel.

These weather conditions could result in power outages, and we strongly recommend preparing accordingly. It is important to charge your cell phones and essential devices in advance, and check that your sump pump is in proper working order, if applicable.
